First Mention is committed to making firstmention.io usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or switch devices. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What is on every page

  • An accessibility button in the bottom corner (in the bar at the bottom of the screen on phones) with larger text, high contrast, a switch that pauses all animation, readable text without capitals, and a switch for tap haptics. Your choices are remembered on this device.
  • A skip link to jump past the navigation, visible focus outlines, and every control reachable by keyboard.
  • Text alternatives on images, labels on every form field, and colours that meet contrast minimums. Wherever colour carries meaning, a written word carries it too.
  • Animation stops on its own if your device is set to reduce motion.
